Hollowdeck Press - On-line Workshops

Writing Classes: Boulder Guild | Baltimore Guild | Houston Guild | On-line Workshops

On-line Writing Workshops

On-line distance writing workshops are offered to any interested student, regardless of where you live. The goal of these workshops is to create a simple, productive, low-tech, e-mail-based venue in which writers might stay connected to their work and to one another. If you have a computer, stable Internet connection and you are comfortable working on email, then the technical aspects of the class should be easy for you to manage. There are three types of on-line classes, On-line Writing Workshops, On-line Bootcamp classes and On-line 50/50 classes.

On-line Writing Workshops: In this 3-month on-line class students will receive monthly writing prompts and they will be required to write at least two texts per month. Using e-mail and a simple Listserv, students will send their work to one another and receive specific, concise feedback from Max and each member in the class. Tuition: $460

On-line Bootcamp Classes: This 10-day on-line writing “Bootcamp” is an immersive experience of being a writer. Students will be receive writing prompts everyday via email. Each student will generate at least 1,000 typed words (or 2 handwritten pages) each day for 10 days, and email their daily work to Max by 12:01 each night. He will read the work daily and schedule a phone session with each student at the end of the class to discuss the work in depth (see flyer). This class is usually offered twice a year in February and July. Tuition: $190

On-line 50/50 Classes: This 50-day on-line class is easy, productive and wildly inexpensive. Students will be given one writing exercise each day and will write at least one first-draft page of text daily, either on the computer or by hand. Students are not required to send their work to the instructor or to their classmates. There will be a blog site for the class listing daily writing exercises, advice on how to set up a regular writing practice and information on how to read, evaluate and move your work forward. An investment of a single dollar a day, combined with your willingness to write, could bring you 50 pages of text by the end of the session. Tuition: $50

For writers who require more support and feedback there is an Extension Option for this class. Writers who choose this option will select 10 pages of your work after the class is over, and email them to Max who will read and make notes about the work. Then he will schedule an hour long consult with you to discuss the text and what steps might come next. Extension Option fee: $75 ($125 total for the class)

These classes are currently being taught by Max Regan. To inquire about the schedule of current on-line classes, please contact Max.
